Diary Entry - October
We have our first assembly with Vaughan Lewis giving a background to Rolls Royce and careers in industry (not to forget the Science Prize) which we follow up with a second assembly with five staff and five students to outline the details of the project. Students come back to lessons, very excited as to when they are going to start! Year 8 Kaleidoscopes go out this week, with help clinics lead by sixth formers going on next week. The students get just the materials – this is not a kit, so they are involved in the design. The challenges are quite demanding too.
Pepper’s Ghost is performed at Langley Park’s first assembly, which goes splendidly, they are looking to repeat it both there and at St. Olave’s.
Richard Thompson has dug out their speed of light equipment and a 6m focal length mirror that needs re-coating. Visit and film Sun Chemical who are anticipating our visit and preparing their presentation on the uses of the electromagnetic spectrum in industry.
Chris has started the powerpoint assessments. They consist of up to 50 frames for each year group and a random selection of these are generated for each individual pupil assessment. At the conclusion there will be a certificate that can be printed out, the results centrally logged. The results show the percentage and the time taken so a winner can be declared.
