Diary Entry - February

In February we were able to spend some quality time examining the difference between coaching and mentoring. We discussed the coaching spectrum and assessed our skills as coaches. We practised asking ‘clean non-judgemental questions’ and assessed our ability to ask the ‘right’ questions to improve the quality of teaching and learning within lessons. We have now invited 2 other Heads of Faculty to join the Coaching Programme and hope to work with them more closely next year.

Each coach in the Rolls Royce team has now agreed a focus for coaching a new teacher. In this next round of coaching, the group of coachees consists of NQTs, HOFs, and experienced teachers.
Dominc and Matthew put the finishing touches on the planning for Year 9 and staff training for this module will take place in early March.

We have also managed to find a real-life Forensic Scientist who is a part time actor! She has very kindly agreed to come and work with our Year 7 students to complement their Crime Week with a creative script writing day and drama production.

Lastly, we were delighted to receive some tickets for the Daily Mail’s Rugby Competition at Twickenham and look forward to planning a trip with some of our Year 9 boys.
