The aim of the project is to motivate and engage 11-14 year old pupils in areas of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). Pupils will research and build an enrichment device for captive zoo animals.
This project will develop skills in areas of biology, technology and design, maths and general skills like teamwork. As part of this the team will be working in collaboration with a university and zoological institution to research and demonstrate the benefit of the enrichment device that has been designed and made by the pupils themselves. The links between various institutions are aimed at benefiting the pupils in their enjoyment of STEM subjects and possible future careers
This is an innovative idea that is clearly designed to work with pupils’ desires to solve real world problems. It brings together a large range of scientific and engineering skills and offers development opportunities to pupils and staff.
