The aim of the project is to produce a video broadcast with children as the core actors/narrators, supported by teaching staff, science experts from University of Ulster at Coleraine and local experts and organisations. After enlisting the support of the North Eastern Education & Library Board’s ‘The truck’, the project will ensure that the finished project will be a virtual science classroom for schools all over the UK and possibly as far afield as the USA.
Through the production of the broadcast, pupils will create an awareness and knowledge of local sea life/seashore in Portrush and educate the school and wider community. Use the knowledge, expertise and scientific knowledge of both the Science Faculty at UUC and the wider community. RSPB, Lifeboat etc, to ensure the recorded broadcast is informative and knowledge based. Make children aware of their effect on the natural environment and how place influences plant and sea life. ‘What’s in the water?’ To have a premiere to launch the broadcast followed by a Science Oscar Night.
An ambitious and interesting proposal with a great deal of potential and possibilities for dissemination. A well selected team with a good range of skills.
