The aim of the project is to improve results within Science specifically at a GCSE level by providing pupils with the opportunity of enhancing their learning through out of class learning resources. Currently sessions out of class and intervention are only available around the exam period or when coursework deadlines are approaching. Many students simply don’t have the time for traditional extended learning sessions and opportunities, or feel that they have been in a classroom in school for long enough by the end of the school day. This idea is to provide continual sessions that are accessible away from the classroom i.e. at home by using video recording equipment, video editing software and the use of podcasts to convey the information in a medium that pupils are familiar with and use on an everyday basis.
Pupils will be able to access these resources from home as they are internet based. This will be of benefit to students who struggle to make any out-of-school enrichment activities due to commitments they have at home, students with poor attendance can keep up-to date with the Science content currently being taught in class and they will be used as revision aids for all students at home or during free time at school.
An interesting idea targeted at a real need within the school. Good method learning opportunities are available.
